My students need many materials in the classroom to begin their writing journey. They will need to be able to write letters, numbers and sentences!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students that come into kindergarten are “like sponges, they absorb everything!” I love this saying because it is so true!
When those students come in, they may not know how to read, write, or count.
But, when given the best opportunity to learn and the materials to make it possible, amazing things happen!
What was once a blank slate, becomes a blossoming future scholar full of knowledge!
Having many materials that they will be able to refer back to daily and call their own, would make such an impact on their learning!
Not only are they able to watch as the teacher is showing examples of what is being taught, they will be able to use their very own supplies to show off their skills they have learned.
My Project
The items for my project are all about writing and gaining writing skills and working on stamina!
I have chosen two different writing journals, numbers and daily sight words!
The students will be able to learn new words and numbers each day. Not only will they say them and know what they are, they will practice writing them by using different techniques, anything from tracing to coloring.
I have also chosen a beginners writing magnet that is large enough for the whole class to see. This magnet is put into use daily to practice writing. Whether it is names, sight words, numbers, or sentences. The students will practice all with the teacher using their own lined white boards!
The last two items that have been chosen are writing grips and writing claws. These instruments help children tremendously when it comes to learning how to correctly hold a pencil. When you start writing, it can hurt and be exhausting. These grips will help ease the discomfort and help form good writing habits!
