Our band students are extremely diverse. Many speak Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Urdu, or Uzbek and home. However, despite their differences, they all come together to make music. The great thing about our band program is that you don't need to be an academic all-star to be successful. We all communicate through the language of music, so everyone has the same fair shot to be outstanding.
Our students are outstanding and take music very seriously.
We have won many awards for outstanding performances and have packed concerts at school. Our students' parents value their music education.
My Project
Our percussionists only have 1 set of bells, sometimes called a glockenspiel, to practice on. There are 20 percussionists in our school, so one set is not enough to give students the practice they need. We need 5 more sets so more students can practice every night. These practice sets are compact and light, making it easy for students to bring them back and forth between home and school.
In addition to practicing percussionists, our flutists request help keeping their instruments clean.
Most inherited school instruments that do not have a cleaning rod or cleaning cloth. This means there is nothing to remove the moisture after they play their instruments. This cleaning equipment will go a long way toward helping them keep their flutes clean and ready to play.
