Help us make full music! There are more percussion students and parts than I have instruments for and to purchase each of the auxiliary percussion instruments that are needed would cost thousands of dollars. This Octapad would provide all of the sounds that are missing in the music parts.
The students in my band program mostly use school instruments.
Majority of students cannot afford to purchase their own instrument so without school instruments there is not much of a band. However, I do have some of the most creative students in that they often discover new concepts in music without my explanation or direction. I have a lot of students who seek music out because it is an interest to them and I truly feel honored to teach such a group. Many of my percussion students double on another instrument because I do not have percussion equipment for all of my students. The great thing about our students is that even though they may not have the best of everything they do take much pride in what they do have and really put everything to good use.
The Roland SPD-30 Octapad would be a dream come true for my classroom! This one instrument holds over 600 percussion instrument sounds from many different cultures. When we play music in class from other Non-Traditional cultures, I usually do not have the instruments that are needed to give the music the cultural effect. However, this instrument has plenty of those sounds as well as a practice mode (with headphones) that would allow my percussion students to practice music in class without disturbing other students. It would add at least two parts of music to each of my six band classes which would really expand my musicianship of my band program. My students will also get a chance to experience many sounds of instruments that I would never be able to afford or have access to. This Octapad would be a fantastic addition to my band program!
The Roland SPD-30 Octapad is a huge necessity for any Band Program.
There may be schools fortunate enough to purchase the 600 instruments represented in this instrument separately, but our school definitely is not one of those schools. This instrument can provide years of activity for the band program here. Any donation gets us closer to our goal so please help our band program reach that next level!
