My Students

My 7th and 8th grade students love to see their stories and lives represented in the texts we read. They have strong opinions and are always ready to debate any topic that may come their way. They are constantly surprising me with how much insight they can share with their peers and me, no matter the text or concept.

Our class community is based on peer mentoring and a growth mindset that allows students to become the teachers and explore issues relevant to their lives and their futures.

My top priority is always finding texts, materials, and activities that reflect our diverse classes and value representation of all types of students. Our English classes bring together a great variety of backgrounds and perspectives that allow us to think critically and create real change in our lives.

My Project

Please help me give my students pencils, Post Its, and other materials that we use in day-to-day learning. Many of my students don't have the same access to school supplies that other students do. They ask me often for paper or pencils to use, not only in my class, but in all of their classes.

My students would be so appreciative to have pencils and other materials to use every day in class.

I am also asking for sheet protectors and dry erase markers to create white boards for whole class work. We will use these to brainstorm, work on writing and grammar, answer quick reading questions, and play games as a class.
