This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Give them what they need, what they deserve.

"We like fun things too.." My heart broke at that small voice.

I moved to a fifth grade class from first grade one year ago, and that was the reply I received when I questioned the 10 year olds then. I have a fundamental responsibility to care for these young minds, and I need help to do it.

My 30 fifth-grade students attend a Title I school in Nevada, where many families face financial challenges that limit access to basic school supplies and enrichment materials. These requested items will help create a well-organized, engaging classroom environment where all students have the tools they need to succeed.

Daily-use supplies such as #2 pencils, dry erase markers, erasers, and whiteboard cleaning materials are essential for writing, math problem-solving, and quick checks for understanding. Having consistent access to these materials ensures that instructional time is focused on learning, not on replacing missing supplies.

The mobile dry erase board will support small-group instruction and flexible teaching spaces, allowing me to provide targeted support and visual modeling for students who need extra help. Currently, students place all their supplies on the floor by their chairs. Seat sack storage pockets will improve organization at students’ work tables, helping them build responsibility and independence.

Sensory fidget tools will support students who benefit from appropriate movement and stress-relief options to improve focus and self-regulation. Educational board games will be used for indoor recess, reward times, and small-group activities to strengthen critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

Together, these resources will help create a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom where students feel prepared, confident, and excited to learn. Your support will make a direct and lasting impact on my fifth graders’ academic growth and classroom experience, because they deserve it.
