Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a secondary biology teacher in El Paso, Texas. I teach all student demographics, to include Special Education, at risk, gifted and talented, economically disadvantaged, English language learners and Pre-AP students.
Although each student may be classified into a different demographic category based on their abilities, their capabilities or what resources are available to them, I do not place limitations on what my students can accomplish...the sky is the limit.
I teach my students to persevere, to challenge themselves and to always believe that they can accomplish what they set their mind to do.
My Project
My biology class is very interactive. I am a firm believer in the more a student says something, the more they will be able to recall that information. Rather than always creating written responses I like to use Flipgrid, which is a platform that allows my students to create video responses. My students really enjoy creating Flipgrid videos, but the problems that I am encountering is that my shy students are very hesitant to create their video in front of their peers and there is always a "photo-bomber" eager to make a cameo appearance in someone elses video. These pop up privacy tents will take care of both of those problems and allow for the creation of confident and beautiful videos.
