The use of technology in the classroom is a must; however, not every child has access to wifi or a technological device. Although our school is a 1:1 school, many of my students are economically disadvantaged and are unable to pay the $25 usage fee for a student issued laptop. This is where the charging station and chargers will transform this situation for many of my students. I have a class set of 10 ipads but do not have any chargers for them, which makes having them of no use. Now, those students who do not have a laptop will no longer feel left out or embarrased for having to share with another student. Now they will be able to work independently with one of the charged ipads. Every student should be awarded the opportunity to learn to the best of their abilites, but sometimes, even the most basic of school supplies can't be bought due to financial problems at home. The rest of my list consists of basic school supplies that are requested at the beginning of the year, but are unaffordable for many of my students. My biology notebooks are filled with color, foldables, interactive notes and models, all of which help to prepare for the Biology STAAR Exam. I teach all learners across the spectrum...I have two Co-taught biology classes which focuses on the needs of Special Education students, two Pre AP biology classes and 3 regular biology classes. Embedded within those classes are my English Language learners who struggle with not only learning biology content but are also trying to learn a new language as well. My goal is to help my students achieve a "Mastery Level" score on the Biology STAAR exam and these supplies can help us do just that.
