My students need to learn today's technology. As we secure our school from deadly intruders we will learn to fly drones to keep an eye out if and when an intruder comes onto our campus.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
Many of them are being raised in single parent households. Every child in our school receives a free breakfast, free lunch and a snack before they go home.
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on my students' potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day.
My Project
Our schools are becoming more and more challenging. We hear in the news all the time where a young man goes into a school and starts shooting our students and teachers. I'd like to do my part in securing our schools. One item ordered is the cameras to place around our buildings.
Next, we ordered some inexpensive drones to give our students an opportunity to learn how to fly a drone.
Today's technology is leaving us behind. Drones are being used everywhere and everyday. As we watch the news we see the photographers being challenged to learn to use drones.
