My Students

I teach in a Title 1 school which is home to many ELL students. This year I will also be responsible for the education of 5 emotionally disabled students as well as many IEP, 504, and medically handicapped students. I would like to encourage more STEM and interactive learning to help build strong education principles in spite of language and emotional barriers. Emotionally disturbed students need special devices and activities to keep them motivated and secure in a classroom setting.

My Project

Students learn more concretely when they are using kinesthetic learning. The more they touch, hear, feel, move and are active the better they learn. Standing desks help promote greater learning and more communication between teachers and students. Greater peer teaching occurs when students are up and moving and conversing with each other. In a sedentary society, it is important to keep students up and moving. Advancements in technology, which are sometimes used as babysitters in today's society, have contributed to nonmovement. Standing desks promote movement which leads to better cognitive learning. There are also added health benefits that go with standing for many students. Help me, help my students grow in terms of education and fitness!
