Peaceful Creators: Using Legos to Help Kids Calm Down

My Project

Since the pandemic, the Pre-K through Sixth grade students at my school have had big feelings inside and outside of the classroom. I want students to feel safe, loved, and prepared for the job they must complete in school. I want them to know that they always have a spot to go handle the big feelings they have.

Having a Lego Table and Magnatiles will help students use their creativity in order to calm their bodies and sort through their feelings.

Students will use these materials in a variety of ways. It is known that kids use play as their main form of communication. Therefore, when they come talk to me, it is very important that I have resources that allow them to communication in their own way. The magnatiles and magnetic strips will help little ones express themselves by being able to build things they don't know how to find the words to express. The lego table and legos will help older kids build their frustrations and get their mind back to the here and now. Please help me provide these resources for students to have a safe space within our school walls and be productive members of our school community.
