Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students need hands on materials to learn better. That was not an option during the pandemic. They also need to be in school to learn how to socialize appropriately as well as how to channel emotions properly. Those skills are stunted for all students; but it is even more impactful to our Multilingual students because of the lack of ability to access academic language. As a result, the learning gaps and social emotional growth gaps grew even greater.
The requests items will help provide assistance in creating those tactile learning options for the students, such as the toner for the printer in the classroom to print items for the students to cut.
The glue sticks will be used to glue and the notebooks a place to put their learning in. Some of the materials printed need to be laminated, which is where the laminating pouches will be used, especially for the cards that will go with the colored blocks and Candyland games which we will play with to practice language.
Some of the other items, like the squishies, and slime will serve as incentives for positive behavior enforcements; and the focus tools such as the marble mazes and grounding mats will provide more options to self regulate their behaviors which will be taught to them through my classroom's calming corner.
The donation of these materials to our classroom will provide more opportunities for hands on learning, positive behavior reinforcement, and self regulation. With those three aspects in place, the more success the Multilingual learners will see and feel in their language learning.
