This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our Pre-K to fifth grade school provides preschool to a diverse population of three, four, and five year old students. This is their first school experience, and the Pre-K teachers strive to make it their best. Students attend school all day. We provide breakfast, lunch, and even nap time! We have a very rigorous curriculum that teaches all content areas.
Our students come from a diverse neighborhood.
Preschool students learn how to attend school, follow directions, and be away from loved ones usually for the first time.
My Project
After learning about colors and mixing colors, students are going to use the dye to create a tie dye shirt. Students will be helped through the process of making themselves a tie dye shirt. These shirts will be used to wear on class field trips. The fabric markers will be used to allow the students to write our school name on the shirt. Each child will take their shirt home at the end of the school year. The students will really enjoy this hands on activity. The end result of their creativity with colors will last throughout the school year.
