My PreK students live in an urban environment and may not get a chance to watch a plant grow from a seed or a caterpillar grow into a butterfly. I would like these supplies to help encourage the curiosity of my students. We will add the soil to the planter boxes on our patio playground which currently sit empty. With seeds and trowels, we will not only grow our own plants, but we will also extend our learning outdoors. My students will be able to watch the life cycle of a variety of plants. With the butterfly kit, they will watch as a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. We are currently learning about nature, and this project will be a great ongoing activity.
