Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students come from underrepresented backgrounds. They have faced many difficulties before the pandemic and the 2020 COVID Quarantine just exacerbated their circumstances.

There were many challenges during the year and a half of COVID quarantine that created emotional, physical, and learning struggles.

Internet access, as well as technical knowledge, were of main concern. Many had to use hot spots throughout the community. Even simply finding a quiet place to study proved to be trying for many with siblings present and conflict of schedules.

Despite these challenging times, my students remain optimistic about the future. They look forward to pursuing careers through education beyond high school.

My Project

I've had many students ask if I have something to eat or snack on. A simple treatment can ease the day. I would like to have some on hand as a treat or simply to satisfy hunger. I found students to be appreciative of small gestures that show you care about them.

Often students are worried or frustrated about their future plans, so I would like to get flower arrangements.

I chose orchid arrangements because they to bring peace to any surroundings, which is what I want students to feel when they come here.
