Help me give my students equipment to allow them to be active and enjoy the world of sports and activity while being safe and social distancing: badminton racquets for all, everyone can be 6 ft apart.
My students just love to be active and learn more about sport related skills. They really look forward to attending my PE class each week. We are a culturally diverse school with students from over 20 different countries represented. We look for creative and engaging opportunities for our school.
As a Title I school, we are a low income and high poverty/needs school.
Our school is a neighborhood school which is located in a low socioeconomic zone of urban North Carolina. Each child at our school receives free breakfast and lunch through our nutrition program. In addition to breakfast and lunch, they also each also receive a healthy snack of fresh fruits or vegetables each day.
My Project
For this project I am looking to receive more equipment that will allow students to be 6 ft apart while being active in my class. I teach in a trailer or in a outside space at an under resourced school. It is difficult to teach multiple sports skills with social distancing built in due to the current equipment I have. One of these sports and skills that I would be able to teach with social distancing and minimal contact would be, racket sports such as badminton. This will also develop the students motor skills, and manipulative skills and enhance their personal and social development. I want my students to still be able to learn the skills that will help them be active for a life time while still being safe during my class.
This equipment will help my students be able to continue to be active in PE safely, and learn useful skills to help them be active for a life time.
I have requested "Pick-A-Paddle® Institutional Badminton Racquets" to allow each of my students to have their own racquet for badmintion. "Carlton® T800 Yellow Premium Tournament Shuttlecocks" that will allow each student to have their own Shuttle. And "MAC-T® Multi Sport Nets" that will allow students to be separated far enough to be safely active while in my class.
