Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Jefferson Middle School is a socioeconomically disadvantaged school. We are a Title One school serving over 600 6th—to 8th-grade students on 100% free and reduced lunch. There may not be an area where we feel this disadvantage more than athletics.

The gear our kids are using is run down and beat up.

We do our best to update as much as we can, but we cannot keep up financially. Unfortunately, this impacts our ability to teach physical education properly. This hinders our students' ability to enjoy athletics and learn to stay healthy with physical activities.

This gear would greatly improve the quality of physical education for our students. It would give our kids something to look forward to and be proud of. Many of our kids don't get new things, so having a new football, basketball, and other equipment would give them a sense of pride that we can not provide them without your support. It would help them feel like they belong in the sports world.

This would help them learn physical education and live a prolonged healthy lifestyle.
