Building and launching rockets was the most engaging hands-on activity that would cover all of our standards at once. Our school is a title 1 school, with most students living below the poverty line. This project created excitement about fields of science that may have previously seemed inaccessible to our student body. Our students now have concrete knowledge about the science behind rockets as we lead into a conversation with a NASA scientist and have followed the Artemis II mission. Students practiced skills of working in groups, respecting materials, and using creativity. The students helped me unpack the supplies and were amazed that total like-minded strangers would support their classroom with markers and pencils. \r\n\r\nThe colorful dry erase markers help students color code their work when regrouping/borrowing. This makes it easier for them to follow their steps.\r\n\r\nWhat can I say about the pencils?
