Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is a wonderful and diverse group of students ready and excited to learn. These students are so inspiring because they come to school every day ready to learn new things and experience new life experiences. They have so many ideas and so many wishes for an amazing school year, and I love seeing that type of energy in our classroom.
My school is considered a Title I school, meaning that a lot of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and do not have the funds to afford materials and other resources.
I don't think that wealth and status should dictate the type of education a student receives. I am determined to provide my students with the tools necessary to learn and succeed in life. I want them to feel safe, comfortable and inspired to learn. I am reaching out to DonorsChoose.org in the hopes that these students will be able to have the best education possible!
My Project
In the state of Arizona, Elementary Educators are required to teach Physical Education to their students. Most Elementary schools do not have a designated gym coach or PE teacher. The job is left to the classroom teacher. This doesn't just mean that we allow the students to play on the jungle gym. Students (especially at this age) need to learn basic movements, hand-eye coordination, balance, rhythm, and being a team player.
That is why I would like to request some basic PE equipment so that my students may be active and engaged during PE time.
I am requesting soccer balls, playground balls, two tether balls, and six 12 poly cones. Many students view PE time as the most enjoyable part of the school day. I want to be able to cater to this by providing stimulating activities and games we can do outside, while also engaging in important lessons on fine/gross motor skills, balance, coordination, etc. Thank you in advanced for considering this project!
