This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade students love learning and creating projects. We are an expeditionary and dual language Title I school. My students are learning Spanish and English at the same time. They are bilingual, creative, thoughtful, and self-motivated learners. My second graders are great and sweet students.

They are always eager to gain knowledge through great books, compelling topics, and ownership of their learning.

They like to move, help, and interact with others. They are developing their sense of responsibility to transform their school, community, and world.

My Project

My second-grade students really get extremely excited about playing ball games during PE.

Getting kids to move helps strengthen and stimulate their brains.

This is why so many recent research studies are showing increased fitness = improved academics.

Regular exercise also contributes to cardiovascular health and promotes muscle and bone development. According to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, school PE programs should require both fitness and cognitive assessments.

In addition to participating in physical activity, students in PE learn the fundamentals of a healthful lifestyle, the building blocks upon which they can develop into healthy, knowledgeable adults.
