Our classroom is brighter and safer, has more space, and has better conditions for student collaboration. It is such an improvement and I can't thank you enough for your contribution. \r\n\r\nWhen my students first walked into class the morning after spring break to find beautiful new tables, they were overjoyed. They couldn't stop talking about them and wanted to sit down right away to try them out. They say they are so comfortable and clean and \"not wobbly!\"\r\n\r\nWe've enjoyed using the tables for everything from writing to painting, from pattern blocks to math games. Students are closer together, so they can collaborate and discuss their ideas more easily. But they also have plenty of room to do their work. \r\n\r\nWe look forward to continued enjoyment for the rest of this school year, and then two new classes of 1st graders will enjoy the tables each year for years to come. They provided a much-needed change and lightness to the classroom. My students use them daily and have felt a sense of pride and protectiveness. They frequently ask to clean them and enjoy the upkeep!\r\n When my students saw them for the first time, they let out a collective \"Oooh!\" and ran over to touch them. Several said that they are \"pretty\" and some exclaimed, \"they don't wobble!\" I have noticed a change in their general mood as they maneuver around the room. They are no longer racing to the tables to make sure they get a \"good place\" to sit. These tables removed a source of stress, allowing my students to focus on the activities. \r\n The narrow width promotes collaboration; enabling smooth student interaction during academic discussions and group activities. My students have enough space to work on large projects as a team and on individual assignments. They are now able to share their ideas with their group without needing to raise their voices to be heard across the table. \r\n The tables make the classroom a more inclusive, engaging, and positive learning environment. The Bears and Frogs classes are comfortable and at ease when they work on their assignments. Many of our students 1) get dysregulated easily 2) are dysregulated most of the time. They don't know it and the dysregulation sometimes is so big that mindfulness breathing is not enough. The blankets help them to settle their bodies down. Once they do that, they can then start to take deep breaths and feel the ease and comfort that that brings. \r\n\r\nI also have younger students in kindergarten who can't even stop running around the room.
