I need professional development books on animation and Autodesk Maya so that I can better my knowledge on the subject to better plan and implement lessons on narrative writing and animation with my students.
As a teacher serving in a low-income school district with a higher than average ratio of students with disabilities, it has become a necessity to find innovative ways to engage students in learning.
Our students lack the opportunities to engage in project-based, authentic learning that fosters independent thinking and creativity.
In addition, our economically disadvantaged and students with disabilities subgroups are consistently underperforming their peers. Our goal is to increase their engagement in school and content and foster a deeper level of thinking in order to give them the skills to be successful when they graduate.
My Project
As a teacher, I am always looking at developing additional skillsets to improve what I do in the classroom. I would like to obtain a professional development library of books providing instruction on the basic principles of animation, storyboarding and Maya animation software to improve instruction for my students.
Through developing my knowledge on Maya software, animation, claymation, and storyboarding, it will improve my lesson design, increase student engagement, and allow me to set high expectations for student growth, which is a proven key element in student success.
Having these books will allow me to learn at my own pace and continually reference them during lesson design.
