Our students come from a variety of economic backgrounds with almost 75% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast.
Our students really want to do well and achieve.
Sometimes some of our students struggle to self regulate and struggle matching their size of problem to their reaction. Along with that comes increased office referrals, increased emotional outburst, increased anxiety, increased frustration, interrupted learning time, and an increased need for small brain breaks throughout the day to be able to make it through the long school day to stay in the learning zone. Our school is a PBIS school and the students cub cash for following expectations. With these points they can spend it for small prizes and experiences.
My Project
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS creates a culture where all students succeed. Our school's core values are PAWS---positive attitude, accepting responsibility, working hard and showing respect. When students demonstrate expected behavior they earn PBIS Cub CASH and then they can use the points to buy incentives from the PBIS store for implementing those good behaviors.
This project will be used to implement a rewards system for the students who are modeling those core values.
