My school uses the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program to promote positive behavior in our school. The students get points when they exhibit behaviors that are a part of the B.E.A.R. B: Be prepared, E: Exhibit integrity, A: Accept Responsibility, and R: Respect all.
When the students earn points, they can spend them on prizes from my prize box.
My prize box is full of snacks, toys, fun markers and pens, and anything else a 6th-grade student may want, including some coupons for free kid's meals at a local fast food restaurant!
Students will benefit from these prizes in numerous ways. First, it encourages them to come to school, take pride in their education, and stay focused in the classroom to help them earn PBIS points. Second, it teaches them about budgeting by allowing them to save up points and spend them on big-ticket prizes.
