Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a wonderful classroom full of wee-little-learners. I am proud to say that my students have learned how to write almost all of the letters of the alphabet and have started to create their own stories. My students have worked extremely hard to become writers and artists over this year. I want to showcase their work by creating their very own copies of our alphabet book. A color printer would grant our classroom this opportunity.
My students bravely conquer a huge challenge that many others never face in their lifetimes, let alone at their age (4-5 years).
More than half of my students do not speak English as their first language. They have been incredibly grateful for every item they have been given this year, whether it be a granola bar or a new toothbrush.
By receiving a printer, I wish to give them a gift that they are proud of and continues to encourage their love of learning for years to come. This alphabet book would be a project where each student writes one letter of the alphabet and then draws a thing that starts with the letter sound. They have worked so diligently this year to learn the letters, letter sounds, what words start with the letter, draw pictures for the words, how to write letters, and even challenge themselves to write full words corresponding to the letter! I hope that by giving them this book, they will have the confidence to keep growing their skills as authors and illustrators.
