Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is for classroom incentives for our students. Our school utilizes the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program. The mission of the PBIS program is to provide support for positive behavior at all levels of the school including school-wide, classroom, and individual support. Our goal as a campus, in utilizing the PBIS program, is to build a school-wide environment where positive behavior is reinforced.
When using positive behavior support and appropriate classroom management, research has shown a decrease in problems which increases academic time.
PBIS is a preventative approach in addressing positive behavior resulting in greater academic success.
The incentives purchased with this grant money, will provide rewards for the students who demonstrate behavior that is consistent with our PBIS program. The incentives will include stickers, play-dough, candy and many other items. The clear tubs will be utilized to store all these marvelous incentives. The incentives will be awarded to the students at weekly or monthly drawings. These incentives are a crucial and vital aspect of the PBIS program. They serve both as a reward and motivator for positive behavior for the students. The students get very excited about these incentives and are highly motivated to abide by our program.
