This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
It is never too early to introduce children to different career options, even at the elementary school level. By exposing them to different careers, we can broaden their horizons and help them understand the importance of education and hard work. Children who are exposed to different careers early on are more likely to have a better understanding of the world around them and the opportunities available to them in the future. My students will be competing in DECA’s Career Development Project.
My high school students will use the project management process to promote/educate the knowledge and skills needed for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship.
Learning about different careers also helps children see the connection between what they learn in school and how it applies to the real world. This can motivate them to work harder in these subjects and aspire to careers in these fields. Overall, exposing elementary school students to different careers can help them develop a sense of purpose and direction, and inspire them to achieve their full potential.
While teaching Career, Technical, Agriculture, Education classes, many rising freshmen are unaware of the career pathways offered in high school. This project will allow my students to educate elementary school students by developing a career unit creating worksheets, books, audio books, career fairs, career fashion shows, study guides, and record themselves vlogging about careers using a laptop/projector. With the activities my students plan to implement, visit local youth programs and local elementary school students so that they will be more equipped to select the right CTAE pathway that can help guide them into their future career choice.
