Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at a magnet middle school that has a mix of the magnet and zoned students. I teach technology elective classes that focus on media and coding. The majority of my students are from low-income households and from very diverse backgrounds. My students love technology and being creative. However, many of these students do not have access to technology outside of school. I try to make opportunities for my students to create projects based on real-world careers in technology and media.

My Project

I am extremely excited to attend this year's Pathfinders Summer Institute in Bloomington, Indiana. I will be attending the Maker Educator Collective Tier 2 Bootcamp. This is an amazing opportunity for me to learn how to provide engaging lessons for my students, while using the Maker mindset. I am looking forward to learning all about STEM exploration, as well as networking with like-minded teachers that will inspire me to share what I learn with my students in the upcoming year. This experience will provide me with ideas and creative lessons that I can share with my students and colleagues in the future.
