Pass the Mic to Be Heard for Racial Justice

Help me give my students with essential tools that will empower them to find and use their voices, see themselves reflected in leadership roles, and understand the power they hold within their communities.

My Project

Your generous donation could help us equip our students with essential tools that will empower children to find and use their voices, see themselves reflected in leadership roles, and understand the power they hold within their communities. Through the donation of microphones, a judge’s gavel, and a collection of racially and culturally diverse dolls and superhero figures, we will create experiences that foster confidence, belonging, and a deep sense of representation.

Children shape their identities and sense of possibility by what they see and hear around them.

When children of color and from diverse backgrounds see themselves represented as leaders, heroes, and storytellers, they begin to understand that they, too, have the power to shape the world.

Too often, toys, media, and classroom resources do not reflect the rich diversity of the communities we serve. This project directly addresses that gap by providing children with:

Microphones – so they can hear and own their voices during storytelling, mock debates, presentations, and roleplay. This is about more than sound—this is about confidence and agency.

A Judge’s Gavel – as a symbol of fairness, justice, and leadership, allowing children to embody and explore positions of authority and ethical responsibility through guided activities and role-play.

Diverse Dolls and Superheroes – so every child can see themselves as brave, beautiful, powerful, and kind. Representation in play fuels aspirations in life.
