My students are hard working 10-12 year olds with diverse backgrounds and varying needs. They all qualify for individualized education plans in the areas of reading and/or math. I see my students in small groups for more specialized instruction.
Every day these students come to school happy and ready to learn, even though it may be difficult for them.
I am proud to work with such a unique group of children and I strive to help them be successful in all areas by celebrating their accomplishments.
My Project
White paper plays a vital role in my teaching. My students often require modified classwork and specialized curriculum. This requires paper to create and copy their work. White paper is also critical in making good writers! In my classroom, I use a lot of white paper to teach the 3-part writing process (pre-writing, composing and post-writing). All my students need it in the first stage (planning, brainstorming, gathering ideas), the second stage, (composing and drafting their sentences), in the last stage (revising, editing, proofreading and printing.)
All students take their feedback seriously and apply changes in a positive manner.
They can see how they grow in their writing skills – but nothing is more discouraging when students work very hard on their essaysor reports and can’t print out that “extra copy” to bring home to show their parents because paper resources are limited. Furthermore, many students do not have printers at home, and therefore, need to print at school. It also comes in handy if a “quick copy”of a graphic organizer, worksheet, or homework assignment should it be needed. My students also earn certificates that we print out at each level of work they achieve.
The amount of white paper requested is for the entire school year and NEXT!
Your donations contributing to this simple project will make a significant impact on my students’ learning!
