Paper Passion with Origami

Help me give my students Origami books and paper to use with corresponding geometry lessons.

My Project

My students’ ability to "think outside the box" has improved tremendously this semester. This project will help students on many levels. Having a visual representation of three dimensional figures will help students find the surface areas of a variety of shapes. When given a physical model of a shape students learn to think about the three dimensions compared with two-dimensional shapes. Also, Origami folding helps with manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination

As a result of completing basic Origami shapes, students increase their spatial awareness through this activity.

Students use their creativity to create new shapes or progress to more challenging figures.

These materials will make it fun for students to create and will also help in the differentiation of lessons. Students may choose their shape to create; as students explore different figures, these skills improve.
