Paper Folding and Graphing in Math Class

Help me give my students Dry Erase Grid Boards to graph equations and Origami Paper to discover parallelogram properties and circle theorems by paper folding!

My Students

My students are very determined students. They are eager to learn and come to class prepared everyday. The student population is very diverse as we are located in NYC. We have students from all over the world.

We are a large public school with almost 4,000 students located in Queens, NY (NYC).

Our students are very motivated to do well but lack in funding. We are not a Title I school therefore we do not receive much funding from the city.

My Project

What is a fun way to learn about properties of parallelograms and circle theorems? Paper Folding! Paper folding will allow students to visually see how the properties of parallelograms and circle theorems come into play. Students will have a chance to reason with their peers why certain properties are true and how the properties come about.

Dry erase grid boards are a great way for students to graph equations of a line without fearing they make mistakes.

The boards could be easily used to display students' solutions without having students draw their graphs on the board. The grid boards are essential in the classrooms!
