Help me give my students opportunities to increase their fine motor skills and creative abilities by using these paints and paper to bring their ideas to life!
I teach in an inner city school district, in a pre-kindergarten wing with a team of three teachers. We are a Title I school, with most of our children coming from low-income families. Our students are inquisitive, eager, and active 3 to 5 year old children who come to school every day excited to learn about the world and each other.
We use hands-on activities and developmentally appropriate practices to teach all the subject areas including reading, writing and math readiness, science and social studies, and especially social and emotional concepts.
Our students are constantly learning through movement, music, art and center-based activities, and our classrooms are always busy! We become family as we learn and grow together throughout the year, and we foster a strong home and school connection by providing many opportunities for families to join us for special days each month.
My Project
We are requesting easel paper, fade-less paper, bond paper and finger paint. As we learn about various concepts and curriculum, young children need hands-on creative experiences such as painting, drawing, and cutting to reinforce their learning. These supplies will be used by our 3 to 5 years old to practice fine motor skills, drawing shapes, numbers, letters, and also to increase their own creative abilities.
It's amazing to watch our students begin school not knowing how to even hold a paintbrush, and progressing to creating detailed pictures and writing numbers and words!
Their work is displayed on bulletin boards that change throughout the year, providing the students with opportunities to share their projects and feel pride in their work. Our students are so excited to see something they created on display for their friends and families to see!
