Paper: A Source of Inspiration & a Canvas for Creativity.
Help me give my students beautifully colored paper to create stories, projects, and works of art, along with small prizes for the treasure box where they can choose small treats for a job well done.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Today's young people are navigating a different world than we encountered. Electronic devices were already booming in popularity prior to COVID, but after being homebound for close to a year, children quite literally became addicted to devices. Teachers are struggling to engage students that became accustomed to everything flashing, making sounds, and having constant motion. We are now charged with re-wiring their brains to go back to being able to concentrate on classroom work.
Research shows that paper learning better engages students, improves material retention and comprehension, and helps them move to a ready-to-learn mindset.
Help me to help my students learn the joy of writing again. I am hopeful that fun and colorful paper will motivate the students to want to write and create. As further motivation, I am seeking small treasure box treats to reward a job well done.
