Help me give my students Capoeira Pants. They need to learn about music and movement and this will help me give them the same opportunities as other kids have!
Would you like to help our Special Education students receive a unique music education? Help us to purchase the proper uniforms to succeed in this endeavor.
Every child deserves to have educational opportunities to help them succeed, not only in music but in life as well!
These Special Education Students are on the Autism Spectrum or have varying exceptionalities, but they are some of the most enthusiastic children I have ever met! They come to music class every week ready to play music and enjoy life and all the beauty it has to offer! I want to give them a love of music and culture that will last them a lifetime!
My Project
Capoeira is a Brazilian cultural treasure that has been practiced for hundreds of years! It combines movement, based upon African Dance, and music performance into a visual and aural art form! It is also a very effective method for instructing Special Needs students to assist them with gross motor skills and music lessons.
I would like to bring this art form to our special needs students in our school.
The students would train all year in their regular music class. They will receive instruction in both the movement of the art form and the music played on percussion instruments. Also, they will learn to sing in Portuguese. At the end of the school year, the special education students will participate in a graduation ceremony, or "Batizado", in which they will receive their first cordel or "Cord" in Capoeira.
I have taught this art form to special needs students before and I can testify to its effectiveness and the benefits and joy the students receive from it. Please help me to bring this same joy to the students at our school with these pants!
