Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Spanish teacher in the public schools. I teach 170 students each day. My school prepares my students in the health and human services field. It is a high need school and most students receive free or reduced lunch.

My students require a digital camera to create their own picture collages and create short video clips in Spanish. As a Spanish teacher my students need many visuals. My students truly enjoy taking real pictures and describing the situation or events in the Spanish.

Using a variety of photographs in my classroom for oral discussions and presentations will enhance student learning and students will be better public speakers as they present their projects. I do many on-hands projects where students take pictures of their work and exhibit their work on bulletin boards. Powerpoint and slideshow presentations will be implemented. Aside from taking pictures, a digital camera will be used to create and edit Spanish videos where the students will see and hear the target language. Students will use their headphone to listen to their short video clip.

Our school budget does not allow for these electronic devices. My students deserve the opportunity to have a camera that they can use in the classroom for various projects. Your contribution will help my students be better learners and more importantly prepare them for college.
