This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The second semester of the school year means that it's time for 7th-grade students at our school to create their own Mars Colony. The Mars Colony project involves students creating a plan to make it possible for their colony (group) to survive and live on Mars and teaches them how to make a business plan that convinces investors to support their project! Students work in all of their core classes: Math, Science, English, and History to complete this end-of-the-year project combining everything they learned throughout the year.

This cross-content project is an exciting way for students to demonstrate all that they've learned in seventh grade, collaborate with classmates, show off their creativity, and learn how to run a business.

A key component of the project, for students, is designing a scale model of their Mars Colony which requires A LOT of paint.
