Painting a Colorful Pre-K School Year!

My Students

As a preschool classroom, many of my students are being exposed to school for the very first time. I want my students to love coming to school and to love learning. It is a severe Special Needs classroom with students that require specialized instruction. Students with autism benefit from repetition, consistent routines and schedules, as well as hands on engaging materials to promote language, social, and academic skills.

My goal is to ensure all of my students can learn and that the environment they learn in is comfortable, safe and supportive.

My students spend a portion of their day included with typically developing peers. Learning in a group setting is a common classroom goal and using the principals of applied behavior analysis, they are able to learn the skills necessary to be successful within a group setting.

My Project

This is my first year teaching in a full size classroom. I look forward to having a larger case load and decorating our new space! Paint will help us create artwork to fill the walls and brighten our learning environment. Tissue paper will be used to make suncatchers to hang on our many windows!

Every child is an artist and it is my job to foster these skills in a supportive and safe space.

These materials will help my students learn in small group settings how to follow one step directions, color identification as well as practice fine motor skills.
