This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach PE to students in grades K-5 in a multicultural school that celebrates diversity. My students enjoy running, racing, bowling, dancing, and tennis. They also enjoy reading, math, and playing foursquare and basketball at recess. We are currently at a temporary location while our school is being remodeled.
Every year, we have a family multi-cultural night where families bring food and wear traditional clothes to celebrate their culture.
It's a great time to celebrate the diversity at our school.
My Project
My students love keeping track of how many steps they walk/run during PE. We received blue pedometers from DonorsChoose.org that students really enjoyed. But they were hard to clip on for young students and several got lost when students borrowed them to use outside of PE.
The Unicef Power Bands I'm requesting are kid friendly and give students an opportunity to help others.
The material looks comfortable for students to wear. Having these power bands will encourage students to be active in PE and throughout the day. I'm sure students will want to borrow these to keep track of their activity level.
