Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are just like you were.
My kids are active, wonderful, energetic, inquisitive, bright and sweet 10 and 11-year-old students attending a high poverty, inner-city Elementary school right in East Los Angeles, California.
We are 99.9% minority and a Title I school. When we talk about college, my students dream of being engineers, doctors, and other science-related careers. This year, they are anxious to begin but are hindered by supplies. They have very exciting ideas: time machines, robot programming, transporters for leftover food so no one goes hungry, and water wind and solar powered cars to help save the environment.
My Project
Students want to begin using the internet for research but are hampered by lack of technology. Our current supply of computers 15-year-old Mac desktops are crashing, not being able to access all sites and unable to be updated as of 3 years ago.
Students will use the Chromebooks for research, science fair projects and NGSS engineering. They will also be able to learn how to use GoogleDoc and other programs that will serve them now and in the future.
I will be able to teach my students PowerPoint, Word, and connect to many science sites we currently cannot. Students will work collaboratively to share ideas and enhance teamwork while using the Chromebooks.
