Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I middle school. My students are an eclectic group of students who require a smaller learning environment to be successful. They have social/emotional needs that range from ADHD to Bi-Polar. Some of my students will be in our Special Day Class all day, while others will be able to mainstream for a period or two. This is my second year in this program and third year at the school. I want to provide a safe and calm learning environment: one that will allow for movement in a way that gets their needs met in a healthy way. It is also important for me to provide tools that allow for them to access the curriculum and reduce their frustration.
My Project
This is a hodge podge of items for our classroom. First, the Mountain Home Biological P3 Classroom Owl Pellet Kit will be a wonderful science activity to look at the food cycle. It will be hands on and something that they can actually see and feel. They will have to sort the bones and classify them. The art activities will be for those students who love painting.
Since we are a smaller classroom, the art projects will give those students who do not care for sports, a fantastic hands on activity.
Lastly, the balls, squishy objects, rubik cubes and pencils will be used for raffle drawings to continue to encourage positive behavior in the classroom.
