I teach second grade students. Our school is located on acres that contain four ecosystems: pond, forest, wetlands and field.

Unfortunately, we do not have any science equipment. I would like to take my children to each ecosystem: the wetlands to observe native birds, the field where they can see a hawk swoop down and capture a rabbit, the woods to hear a woodpecker and the pond to witness a pair of ducks and their ducklings.

I need 15 binoculars for the students to use to observe birds, 15 field guides to identify birds and 30 nature journals to record in.

Children will turn their observations into questions. What these questions are, we won't know unless we allow the children to explore the world...right outside these classroom walls.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
