Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My 5th grade students do not have science kits to use to help learn the science curriculum. I, the teacher, purchase, find, or ask others for supplies needed to implement different experiments or learning objectives. When my students have the necessary equipment to learn, engagement is high and knowledge is obtained.

My students will use the new supplies to help build their understanding of how the Earth rotates and orbits around the sun and the movement of the moon.

With this knowledge they can also understand how the sun can help tell time and the seasons. The model will also facilitate in the understanding of the phases of the moon, which will also help with the stars and seasons of the constellations. Students will understand solar and lunar eclipses. The students will use the flash lights to demonstrate how the position of the sun can tell time, the seasons, and the phase of the moon.

Having any supplies for science will make STEAM an active experience in my classroom and school which can increase test scores and create future scientist that can impact the world.
