This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Each day, my preschool students come to school eager to learn, explore, and participate in exciting activities! My school serves children of all abilities and their families through the Head Start program. It is a part of a large, urban public school district.
My preschool students are curious and inquisitive; they are excited about what they will learn at school!
They learn best when using engaging, hands-on activities where they can choose to work independently or with their classmates.
My Project
Fresh air and outdoor exploration is so important for young children's physical, mental, and social-emotional health and well-being. On a typical rainy day, my students must stay indoors during recess and outdoor learning times.
This project will allow my students to continue their learning and playing, even when the weather outside is rainy and wet.
Each child in the classroom will have access to a full-body rain suit and rain boots. My school recently started a garden, and these outdoor clothes will allow my students more time to explore without worrying about their clothes becoming wet or dirty. There is also a mobile cart to store the outdoor gear and allow it to dry.
"Every child needs nature. Not just the ones with parents who appreciate nature. Not only those of a certain economic class or culture or set of abilities. Every child."- Richard Louv
