My Students

The 10th grade students at Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School are very diverse and come from many different cultural and financial backgrounds. Their various backgrounds mold together to form a culture at our school that is family oriented and friendly.

With our family type environment in the school, the students are eager to challenge themselves and each other in order to reach their true potential.

Your financial assistance will allow these students to better understand how to overcome obstacles, challenge themselves, face their fears, and become effective leaders. These skills will build the foundation needed to succeed.

My Project

The trip will take place at Alley Pond Park Adventure Course. The course is designed to achieve a variety of recreational, educational, and developmental goals. The elements course concentrates on building teamwork through problem-solving challenges, while the high ropes course and zip line focus on individual challenges and require the students to confront personal fears and overcome obstacles. The courses will challenge them and teach them how to step out of their comfort zone to succeed in their goal.

At the end of the trip, the students will reflect on their experience and explain why these skills are necessary for lifelong success.

They will understand what challenges are and how growth occurs by overcoming obstacles and fears.
