Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I have students who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn,” is a quote that we refer to in our classroom.
I want my students to have the ability to use technology in my class to promote perseverance, 21st-century skills, and create real-world connections.
My Project
These materials will give a fun approach to learning about science topics. Outdated textbooks and workbooks are no way to learn about science. Through the use of the SuperScience magazine, students will be engaged and not feel defeated upon trying to go through a thick text book. Students are engaged through the use of the Schoasltic News, so lets see what happens when they get their hands on these Science magazines. In our district, certain grades have standarized tests on Science topics. What better way to get them ready then by using these magazines to introduce new topics and review some of the previously learned topics.
