My students need access to brand new technology due to the fact that our current technology is outdated and broken. These two Chromebooks would replace two of our broken ones.
My students are special because they come to school ready to learn each day. They bring with them an enthusiasm for learning! This inspires me to become a teacher that will do everything possible to provide them with the materials necessary for them to achieve success.
My students come from loving families that want the same for their children.
However, they live in a low socio-economic community where resources and opportunities for growth are scarce. Our school is a Title I funded school where the majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. Much of the funding for internet based learning is not provided here. It is the responsibility of the teacher to provide these much needed resources.
My Project
Currently we do not have enough reliable, working technology for students to access research based engaging learning programs online. Math can be an unapproachable subject to undertake. Imagine 9-11 year old children who are fearful of learning. That's what I see everyday. Students are struggling to figure out new methods of computing math problems, and trying to work with unreliable technology. It's a frustrating situation for them. I feel that new technology will help to prepare my students for a successful math future! These new Chromebooks will give students uninterrupted access to proven, web based programs that will boost their math knowledge and make learning fun!
As a result of making math challenging but fun, I will see attitudes change, grades improve, and see problem solving skills strengthen.
These brand new, working Chromebooks are the key to my 5th graders differentiated learning.
