Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a Title I school, in Tampa, FL. Over 96% of our students are living in poverty. My class is a blended class of 3-5 year olds that are in the voluntary pre-k program or identified with special needs such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Speech/language Delays or Developmental Delays.

My students learn best through play and interacting with their peers.

These last couple years, our toys and manipulatives have started breaking. They are beyond repair with glue or tape for safety reasons.

The sensory items will be used to help my students with sensory needs calm down and start interacting with toys they are comfortable with. The table is replacing my housekeeping table which broke in class this week. The table is more sturdy and will allow my students to interact with peers in the dramatic play area.

Our puzzles and dolls were favorites this year among my students and the new items will be appreciated.

The little toys will be used as incentives for my students to celebrate achievements and showing kindness. The alphabet toys will assist my students with learning their letters and sounds. It will also benefit my students who are English Language Learners.
