This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. My students come to class ready to learn and ready to grow. They are an inspiration to themselves, their parents, their peers, and to me!

Our school is located in the community of Compton, CA and 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students come from difficult home life situations where their access to resources is very limited. Despite coming from a low socioeconomic community with many hardships, they love coming to school everyday. My school is their stable safe place with a loving and welcoming environment for them. They always continue to flourish despite hardships. Day by day they realize more and more how essential they are to the future.

My Project

These flexible seating options will give my young scholars a spot to work while staying focused. Research shows that having flexible seating options in the classroom increases learning by keeping students calm and productive. Flexible seating options encourages students to be productive while comfortable. My busy body students would benefit greatly with these stools because they are conducive to both individual quiet work time and collaborative group work. These stools can also be easily moved around the classroom to a desk, work table, or library area. These stools will help give my classroom flexible seating so that my students are allowed to change position or location as we work in the classroom without being disruptive.

My students will be motivated by these stools because of their bright welcoming color and adding something different to our wonderful classroom learning environment.

The bookcases will help create a safe and organized classroom library. Our wonderful books need a wonderful home. It would be safe to say that the one bookcase our class has left has seen better days and is probably over 30 years old same as our other furniture. Yesterday I had to say goodbye to the main bookcase in the classroom as it finally gave out. This inspired me to create this project. Please help give my extraordinary students some new furniture.
