This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Recording our observations and questions while we are outdoors is an important part of being a scientist.

We live near a river which is an ideal place for junior naturalists to observe and record the natural world.

We will be visiting the river at least every month during the school year to observe the changes. We have already walked there once this year and observed the local and animals. We came back with so many questions our brains were bursting.

We are a Title I school with over 90% receiving free and reduced price lunch. We come from all different kinds of backgrounds from countries around the world. We all share a love of the natural world.

My Project

My students know that they are scientists and that scientists have to record their observations in detail. They have been working hard to develop their observation skills.

We will be able to accurately draw our observations using our clipboards with colored pencils.

With more accurate drawings we can answer our questions and explain our thinking about the natural world around us. We love walking to the nearby river to watch the plants, animals and changing seasons.

These outdoor areas are our home so we want to observe and protect them. We love our river and want to be able to communicate to others the special qualities it has.
