This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My classroom is a Pre-K classroom consisting of boys and girls that are 4 years old. My students come from economically disadvantaged homes in the inner city of the largest urban school district in the state. The school is over 100 years old. The school is located in a crime-infested area with homes that are in shambles, vacant lots filled with rubbish, and remains of burned out structures. The students, with the help of their parents, somehow rise above it all and come to school daily, eager to learn through play.

A typical day in my classroom is filled with smiles, laughter, and a sense of security.

My students come to school full of energy and ready to learn. They know they are in a safe place with a variety of hands-on activities that keep them on task and out of trouble. There is never a boring moment throughout the day in my classroom!

My Project

My classroom is in need of a secure charging station for our recently acquired tablets. It has been very difficult to get all of our tablets charged up for everyday use when we only have 3 working electrical outlets in the classroom. In addition to the charging challenges we have security issues as well. A locking charging station would be ideal for our situation.

My students love using a fully charged tablet for multiple tasks in the classroom.

The students need to be able to use the tablets as often as possible without worrying about their tablet not being charged up for use. A charging station would make a huge difference in our classroom and keep the students engaged in continuous learning opportunities.
